Port St. Lucie is only 40 min north of Jupiter and another 20 min to Palm Beach. Jupiter & Palm Beach are far better options. Both offer excellent diving!

In other words, in answer to the Op's question, no. You can go North, there's some wrecks off the coast in the Jacksonville area, but the best diving is South.

When I'm considering traveling to a destination and there's water nearby I do a search on ScubaBoard for the name of the place and see what sort of threads come up.

As far as your stated destination goes, the search results make it clear that in that general area your best bet is a large bathtub.

most of us in the St Lucie and Indian River areas go south to Palm Beach for diving. PSL and Vero is known for marginal (at best) dive conditions whereas Palm Beach is some of the best diving in the US!
