Some conflicting reports from weather in Texas may make some worry about the usually connected norte in Cozumel. Not this time! IN Galveston County it is 84 F right now with some slight cooling down over the next few days with mild winds. Wind Guru shows nothing but normal east winds in Cozumel for the foreseeable future. I could be wrong (as I was one time in 1996) but don't worry Cozumel divers.

For those who might wonder "Where the heck is Dave Dillehay" it is pretty simple.

From 1991 to about 2005 I lived mostly in Cozumel but had a home and family ties in League City, Texas in Galveston County. During that period I would fly to Texas about once every few months from Coz. In 2008 I enjoyed the birth of my last son (of 7) who is 9 years old now and lives with his mother in League City for social and school life.

I do love Cozumel but I love that precious boy more, thus I am in Texas about half the time now, making sure I am a great father for him. Good news is that he was born after my Mexican citizenship so he is a Mexican by birth, and one heck of a diver already. I came back to Texas ahead of Hurricane Harvey and stayed during that event. Now I have flown back from Cozumel to spend Christmas with him, coming back to Cozumel on December 27th.

To make a long story short, I get lots of opportunities to compare what is happening with weather in South Texas and in turn Cozumel-- and as Gordon wrote there is usually a strong correlation. But not this time.

Lots of Northers & Fronts every winter. Some don't make it to Texas, some do, and some get as far as Cozumel. I think this one will give Galveston cool north winds tonight, but fizzle over the Gulf. It's too soon to know about the next one passing thru South Dakota today.

Right now at 3 PM we have a moderate South wind and 78 F in Galveston County. Must have stopped up there in the left coast of Texas.

Geeez, I said this last week! Four years of meteorology paid off as ......it never rains on my parade. This week in CZM was simply fabulous weather wise and in all aspects of our trip! Read the jet stream during the winter. That will reveal more than one needs to determine the patterns and frontal passages.

Or if you can't make sense of the jet stream, just check Wind Guru.com

Wunderground says your 20+ mph north winds will hit at 11pm, while Wndguru says it'll be after midnight. :coolsnow:

And WG wins. Front just now arriving in Galveston, some stations still have south winds, some north...
