Hello all. Hope you all are doing well.

I have a question about DCS. Lately, I have been having what I believe to be poor circulation issues in my arms only. During the day when I am active, I am ok. The joints in my hands seem a little stiff, but nothign major. But when I am inactive, the my elbows and the joints in my hands stiffen up and start to feel tingly, especially during sleep. I am 34 yrs old, haven't been diving long, but have been diving very often recently. Most dives are between 20 and 40 ft, but I have done a few boat dives down to 80-100 ft. Could this problem be caused by DCS, or am I just getting old and arthritis is setting in?

I'm not a doctor but i think it's always best to get stuff like that checked out by a doc who has experience with diving medicine etc. Especially if these symptoms never happened before you started diving.

Head on over to the Medicine board and see if someone there can shed any light.

What you're describing does not sound like poor circulation. It also does not sound like arthritis. There are other diagnoses that would be much more likely, but I'm going to suggest you see your own physician. More information will be needed from you, and a physical exam will be important.

i experienced your symptoms before i went diving. Ask about Carpal Tunnel syndrome or recall if you hit your elbow before you started feeling that feeling.

My numbness stopped when i was stung by a sea urchin!!!! so in short a sea urchin stng on my arm with a problem healed the numbness ,.... :o)
