Hello All;

I just bought my new set of double AL 80 and I d like to try it in a pool before I go OW. I have been hearing about people trying gear in pools and I was wondering if there are pools in the Miami / Fort Lauderdale area that allow divers to train. How does it work? , you rent space / time?

Thanks

Some shops, if they have pools, will rent them out to divers on an hourly basis. However, if you didn't by the equipment from them, they may not be willing to do that. You could also check with local YMCAs. They usually let divers in their pools during open swim times.

The YMCA around here doesn't care during open swim

A great question for your local forum here. Have you found it yet? Need help...?

I practice at our local Aquatic Center. Many pools allow divers, especially if they are frequented by LDS's to train their students. All they require from me is a copy of my C card and 5 bucks. I go during their open swim times and just pick a lane closest to the lifeguards. I have developed a signal plan with them so they will know if I am in trouble and for some reason can't surface. The pool is 10ft at its max depth. I work on my buoyancy and task loading and also with gear changes.

Good luck!
