I was wondering if anyone knows of any pools that are "diver friendly"? Basically, I would like to test out some new gear and I do not have a local pool to do so. If anyone knows of one in the Chicagoland area, please let me know. Thanks for your assistance. :dazzler1:

Most of the shops rent out local High School pools almost every week. Some like Scuba Emporium have pools on site. Scuba Emporium charges $15 I think, but is free if you are buying gear from them.

If you go to the website and break down the cost per dive, it will be VERY affordable. If one wants to invest, it will be unique-nowhere in the world does one of these exist and therefore, uniquely and amazingly profitable. Think aobut it...Saltwater dive in the Midwest- we midwesterners have to spend a ton to saltwater dive right now. Maybe no longer? I think it's cool.

Scuba System in Skokie has an in-store pool designed for dive use. They use it for classes, but I think they rent time as well. Check out www.scubasystems.org.

Actually there is one other that I know of.... its been around for quite a while....

Ever heard of the living seas at disneyworld? They offer a program that lets you dive in there fora half or full day (dont know the exact details)... Its not a widely advertised program but it was featured on a discovery channel exclusive on the secret world of disney.... any certified diver can do it....

Its called DiveQuest... I dont know how much it costs but it would be an amazing experience im sure... plus their aquarium I believe is much bigger than the one in Chicago is supposed to be...

I did find the price... it is $140 for a 2 hour prep session and 40min dive... sounds expensive, but the marine life they have in there would make it worthwhile (eagle rays, sea turtles, dolphins, sharks, ect)....
