Every now and than when I get some major piece of new equipment, I would love to have a place where I can go quickly to try it out and get comfortable with it before taking it on a real dive. Right now, normally I would go to an easy site first to try it out but sometimes it can be annoying having to drive to the beach and go through all the trouble just to try out some new equipment.

My question would be, does anyone know of a good public or private pool someone could use now and than outside of taking a class? I'd love to have a place where I can try new equipment, practice techniques, etc but don't know of any right now. If I have to, I have no problem paying a couple of dollars either.

Thanks and appreciate the information.

You should consider hooking up with Jeff Seckendorf of Unified Team Diving (UTD)
if Carlsbad is not too far to travel.

They do a weekly pool session and you might be able to join in with that...

Thanks for the information, I work in Rancho Santa Margarita so it's a bit of a drive. I'll check with Jeff and depending on the time and day, might be worth the drive.

If you have a regular dive shop I would ask them. Depending on if they have a pool or borrow one for classes I am sure they would let you slip in every now and then. Especially if you buy a few toys from them.

I thought about that but there's no local place where I've bought a lot lately, more like a little here and there plus online. I have most of my major gear for the moment and mostly only get air fills.

Yeah, I'll agree with contacting Jeff Secondorf. Carlsbad is a bit of drive but I work in Irvine and have been thinking about trying to find my way down there to hit a pool session for practice and hopefully find some potential dive buddies.
