Old inner tube material will give out before bungy cord I think.

Actually no, but they can be more difficult to get heavily gloved (dry gloves, 7 mm gloves, etc) under. Bungee gives you a knot to grab. I use the Dive Rite straps as they have a nice tab to grab in my dry gloves.

I agree, those grab tabs are nice, I was merely pointing out a free way.

I use old inner tube material, and even when diving with dry gloves and two layers of gloves underneath, I am able to get a hold of the inner tube material. However, I can't grab it against the bare tanks but have to grab it near the cord where it is lifted off of the tanks surface a bit.

Agreed. I used to use one DR strap as one inner tube strap. DR on top as when I stow I don't neatly do so. Enough to keep the hose secured and put of the way (one strap) is enough.

My buddies kept calling me cheap so I sprung for two DR per tank. Those thins get expensive when you have several stages to set up....

Without trying to send costs into the stratosphere, Walmart sells brand new inner-tubes for a few bucks. You don't actually have to put up with the old stuff. 8-)

I found this really easy and cheap. A couple of short bungee cords with these ends that fit snugly around the tank, securd with cable ties. Very easy to grab the ends...
