A 57-year-old scuba diver from Indiana apparently drowned Saturday afternoon while diving a wreck off Pompano Beach.
AAA, 57, of Evansville, Ind., had been with six other divers about 1:45 p.m., the Broward Sheriff's Office said.
He was photographing the wreck of the Sea Emperor in 60 to 70 feet of water. Moments later, the other divers noticed that his air regulator was not in his mouth and that he was not moving, the Sheriff's Office said.
The other divers got him back to the surface and aboard the Scuba Tyme III, on which they administered CPR while the boat rushed back to shore, the Sheriff's Office said.
AAA was taken to North Broward Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy will be performed to determine the official cause of death.
