DivingDoc once bubbled...

Hope they caught it early. It can be a bad actor if they didn't.

Yep -- early enough -- thanks to my observant wife. They excised a pretty sizeable chunk from my back (a 1/4 inch mole resulted in a 6-inch scar), and I've been going for semi-annual strip searches ever since. April will be three years (or is it four?). So far, so clean, although a recurrence in another spot is more than remote possibility.

I have a (gonna be a spelling error here I bet ) Esophagial hernia. Thats where a part of the stomach is herniated and as such makes it difficult to close off. I get severe heart burn and take a drug to eliminate acid in my stomach.

I wonder if the "other" category includes a large %
arthritis/ musculoskeletal problem
and could be a contender as category all on its own, next time you do this poll?

=-)

Or did have....managed to (cave) dive regularly through chemotherapy and radiotheraphy. Only problem was a bit of heart burn when I inverted due to a side effect of the steriods I was on. I had the stitches out 2 days early from the initial biopsy so I could go to France for two weeks caving...and then managed to schedule my treatment so that I was on the break between chemo and X-rays when I went to Florida.

That was 12 months ago and I'm all clear now. The biggest deal was getting the seal to my drysuit over my head when I had no hair.

I've had a total right knee replacement (see attached jpg)
I also have High Colesterol (which cannot be controled with diet).
I take a single dose (20 mg) of apolovastatin to control this.

Other than not being able to run or jog I lead an active physical life, 120-150 dives per year.

I tell my wife my colesterol problem is due to not enough sex. (LOL)
She tells me to take another pill.

MikeD

atorvastatin (Lipitor).

controlled with medication. Also neuropathy of my feet, undetermined origon, prob heridity ...realize this can mask syptoms of DCS so I'm quite careful there. Actually the syptoms nearly disappear when I'm diving.

Incidently I'm certified to teach thru the Handicapped Scuba Association:cyborg:

Hey Doc,

I just had my annual physical and I came back clean for all the things you have listed in your poll. Cholesterol was slightly elevated and my buddy Doc. told me to ease up on the bacon and eggs. Everything else was normal. BTW I'm 39 years old,
6"-3" and 210 lbs.

Have you been checked for diabetes? That could be a cause of both.
