lately, I found myself carrying more and more stuff with me, such as backup light, small camera, finger wheels ... I know I can clip them to d-rings, but the feeling of having things dangling is so neat. Does anyone putting pockets on their BP/W setup? How and what do you have?

No pockets here on BP/W. Everything is secure to the plate with bolt snaps to the D-rings. I do have pockets however on my drysuit and on my 7mm wetsuit for the misc little things like spools of line, lift bags / smb, backup light, backup mask, dive tables, etc. They are pretty big pockets and therefore fit quite a bit of stuff.

The only things that are clipped to the D-rings or my backplate are my primary dive light clipped to my right chest d-ring and my depth & pressure gauge clipped to my backplate on a retractor, octo on a bungee around my neck and the primary regulator on a long hose. Occassionally I will wear a compass on my wrist, otherwise it's on a retractor attached to my left chest d-ring.

Hope this helps, I like to streamline my gear and don't really like to have things dangling if I don't have to.

You don't want danglies ;) Your backup light should be clipped to one of your chest D rings and held to the harness by a piece of innertube or thick rubber bands. I'm guessing you are diving dry so you may want to add pockets to your drysuit or wetsuit if you're using one. You could slide a small pocket onto your waist band but the idea is to reduce drag and entanglement so you really do want to keep it small.

I harvested a couple orange Scubapro detachable pockets from an old BCD and attach one to my waist strap, when needed, with a couple military web belt clips. Good for storing things like gloves and a noxious vegetation collection bag.

As others have mentioned above, dry suit pockets are my choice/recommendation. If not an option or desired approach for you, there are pockets available to mount to your harness/BP. The Halcyon is a great one because it is large, has a hard backing to keep it from flopping around, and mounts to the edge of your BP to keep from moving around:

Dive Rite also makes several pockets:

I used to have pockets on my harness. They just got in the way. I glued pockets on my wetsuit and will have them on my drysuit when I get one. Everything that could dangle doesn't. Bolt snaps and inner tubing solved that problem.
I do stow my camera on my butt d-ring.

No pockets on the plate here either. I have them on all of my suits on the thighs. Much easier to access. I have one of the dive rite slide on pockets that I will use once in awhile on my express tech but that is if the pool is too warm for my 3 mil.

x-shorts are another option if you don't want to glue pockets on your suit.

i have a pocket sorta like the last picture, too, for my singles rig.

Let me suggest sewing pockets onto wetsuits in lieu of gluing. Gluing is less secure and creates annoying stiffness in the area affixed. Wetwear did a very nice job installing on my relatively new suit which included adding a sub-base of neoprene to protect the suit. I must also volunteer that the extra charge was not cheap...
