PNG, Paradise Sport Trip Report, w/pics

I was on the Star Dancer in November and was so disappointed with the diving. We did the Kavieng trip. I waited 20 years to go to PNG and I needed to keep a magnifying glass in my BC pocket. Visibility sucked, diving was boring. NO BIG STUFF. Had to bait to see sharks.

The coral was amazing but after a while . . . diving was really easy, crew was exceptional, boat is the best I've ever been on. It's worth the trip just to spend 10 days on the Star Dancer. Should've gone to PNG 20 years ago . . .

Re big stuff, I can spend an hour looking at 4 sq feet of reef and not be bored. Don't care if I never see another white tip or nurse shark. Will do Galapagos one day for other sharks.

Interesting re poor vis in November. Does the wait to December make that much difference (just wondering)

Another thought, you had a concern about flights tp Aus. Continental flies from Hawaii to Guam to Cairns. We have taken that flight twice, it would be better than going all the way down to Sydney. We were in PNG in July so it's really hard to comment on what I know about viz. I'm sure having calm seas helps the viz, plus being away from land helps too.
