Hi,

I'm about to remove a H adapter from a tank valve and install a plug (plug was cheaper than a second regulator) - there are two o-rings on the plug - should these be left dry, smeared with silicon grease, or some other grease used? The tank is for air only, not Nitrox.

A tiny bit of silicone will do the trick. The alternative would be one of the oxygen approved greases, such as Krytox or Crystalube(sp). A small tube of this stuff costs about 10 bucks though.

You never “smear” anything on O rings. You put a tiny amount on your fingers and rub it on the O ring so the O ring is shiny, nothing more. I also put some silicone/Christolube on the threads to keep them from seizing. Remember that the threads are exposed to the water.
