And, I did find some what you said to be offensive.

While indeed doctors are trained to use drugs and surgery, many believe in and promote the general tenets of the less lunatic "wellness centers," such as proper nutrition and fitness, stress-reduction, relaxation, goal-setting, motivational improvement and the patient assisting his or her care and being an informed medical consumer.

As I mentioned...no offence to any medical people out there. The OP did say he'd been to doctor/s and to no avail did he not? A reputable wellness centre will do exactally what your quote stated....just with no pharmaceuticals. I do believe the OP also mentioned the drugs given to him were also effecting his normal living. I only gave my HO and stand by it 100%. Do not wish to do battle over homeopathic remedies VS the billion dollar drug industry. We all know the world is flat right?

I challenge you to cite a single published article from a recognized, mainstream, refereed scientific journal that supports the effectiveness of "magnetic mats" in promoting sleep.

Sleep is a natural part of life. It doesn't need to be "promoted" The problem is :what is causing this natural need to be disrupted? Everything in the universe has a frequency ie vibration. EVERYTHING!! Throw it off and all hell breaks loose. A magnetic sleep mat simply helps realign what was traumatically thrown out. Thats all it will do....the natural sleep will take care of itself P.S. forgot to mention that when we sleep ...thats the time when the body can and will heal itself nuff said.....;)

Do you live in Roswell? Do you believe in Santa? Do you think peoples blood is magnetic? Or are they little green men? Who created this "Natural Harmonics" or are we talking "Shockeras" or "Chie" maybe "Ing or Yang" Please if he only had magnets on the dive he could have beat the tables! A Fijian medicine man would be better!

BTW hard to sleep when you hurt and magnets will not stop any pain! To see so called educated people believe in such witch craft is the real pain!

It sounds like your main problem is a sleep disturbance of some kind. The length of sleep may not be as important as the quality. The feeling of never being rested is typical of sleep apnea and other things (like carpal tunnel disease) that cause frequent awakenings (awakenings which you aren't even aware of usually). These awakenings interrupt REM periods and prevent beneficial sleep. Leg weakness, parkinsonism, strokes, even shoulder problems can cause sleep disturbance by forcing the person to exert more effort during those frequent position changes you have to make during normal sleep. Your leg sensory problems may be the culprit too.

I suggest going to a sleep center and getting EEG and video monitored during sleep (paid for by most insurance companies). My daughter, a college student, was horribly fatigued last year and testing at a sleep center showed she was having apnea from large tonsils. We had them removed and her problem was instantly cured (without a magnetic mattress). By the way, a good sleep specialist (ususually a pulmonary internist) also does a comprehensive medical evaluation too. Vicodin may help prevent sleep disturbance, but there are better ways of treating the problem than narcotics, depending on the cause.

So true. I sneak into the MR imager whenever I can to catch some Z's!

But seriously, consider visiting a sleep center. They can observe your sleep patterns and narrow down why your sleep cycle is being disturbed.

Sleep?? Many years ago I was given some good, no, excellent advise. Take a nap every day. I can not overstate the benefit those naps have brought me over the years.

My mantra has been: Three legs to the stool of fitness; proper nutrition; adequate sleep and intense physical and mental exercise. At the time the medical community was downplaying the value of the last two, especially the naps. My how times have changed. I still know docs who poo-poo intense exercise and who haven't a clue about nutrition and who minimize the effects of sleep deprivation. But, their numbers are diminishing rapidly.

As for the problem the OP posts about: Folks will jump to conclusions based on their backgrounds. You haven't posted enough for anyone to know exactly what workups have been done and exactly what the conversation between you and your provider have been. It sounds like there is a gap between your understandings. The best course is to have a good sit down conversation to get on the same page. From that start expanding your search for a resolution into the community. You will find an answer if you are persistent!

Not to be anti-western. But certainly a chiropractic physician might be tried with little harm here. It is one of the few places where I think traditional medicine might just miss a "subluxated" whoknowswhatebrae, and getting it in place might get you back 130%.

At worse, you and your insurance company will be out of $300 bucks, and you get a few megarads of rays. At best, you might be cured, and never will trust an MD/DO again.

We shouldn't shake a stick at holistic healers, once in a while, it is the allopathics that causes more harm than good. I think this is one case that if all else fails, and you are relying on Vicodins - a chiropractor might help.

On a question to the cerebrals here, I wonder if there has ever been a case of MS triggered by DCS?

Since you asked....My beliefs primarally lie within the realm of physics. Particle,Quantum, Astral, and let's not forget Theoretical......Now back in your box and don't forget to close it good: BTW didn't you miss church on sunday???rofl3:

Not even ear candles?

Good luck on your recovery, fellow.

It might help other divers if you chose to post an accident report on our Accidents & Incidents forum. True, if you screwed up and did this to yourself - you might catch some caca there, but if so - preface your report that you've already caught all the caca; you're offering the report to help others.

Again, best wishes...
