Hey guys,

I'm about to pull the trigger on a few things for the wife, and I'd like some input before I shoot myself in the fin. :) After researching everything for just over a week, I've come up with what I believe is a nice little gear package for the wife. What do you think?

  • $504.95 - Oceanic Hera w/ hanger
  • $599.95 - Oceanic EOS regulator
  • $109.95 - Oceanic Alpha 8 octo
  • $627.90 - Oceanic Veo 250 PDC w/ console/quick disconnect/3-guage/lens cover
  • $44.95 - Oceanic Titanium knife
  • $19.95 - LP Inflater Hose

    And for me:
  • $379.05 - Zeagle N2ition computer
Total for everything is $2286.65, and with ScubaToy's 10% discount, the total comes to:

$2057.99 plus USPS priority shipping to my APO

I do have a few questions regarding the above.

  • I'm not sure if the reg or BCD comes with an inflater hose, so I've included one. Do I need to order one? If it's not needed, I won't order it!
  • Anyone know if ScubaToys will attach the octo (and LP inflater hose if required) into the first stage?
  • Also, I know that ScubaToys sells a lens cover for the N2ition, but I can't find it anywhere on their site. Anyone know where it is so I can simply place my order online?

Thanks for your help, and be sure to let me have it if I've made any mistakes!

Thanks!
Jose

Bcd's come with an inflator hose.
I bet you can ask them... They are nice guys.
The Zeagle is the same as the Apex quantum. Solid computers.
Are you in Kuwait?
So am I.

The BC should include the low-pressure hose.

The N2ition is the same as the Cressi Archimedes, one from Tusa, and a Diverite. Try looking at those computers to see if they have the computer. You may want to use the same computer for you and your wife. If you get the Zeagle or one of it's equivalents, you'll only need one computer cable to download the dive info from your dive computer to your PC. I use the Cressi, it's a solid performer, you won't be disappointed.

Since you plan to use Scubatoys, you may want to consider some of the Zeagle products. They are extremely well built, and maybe a better price than the Oceanic. They also have a woman's specific BC.

Is there any way you can get to a local shop and let her try the gear on for size and feel? I bet it is cheaper to order through ST. I ordered most of my stuff from them and Leisure Pro. If the price is in the ballpark it may be worth buying locally. I just know from my experience with the wifee my idea of fit and style may not be what she has in mind. ST will let you return stuff as well.

Good luck,

AZ

I'm not sure if the issue has been fixed, but I've seen 6 of the Apeks quantum computers (same thing as the N2ition, just a different label) fail. One was in the parking lot the other five were mid dive. This was about 2 years ago I think, the computers were not purchased in the same year or from the same place.

Excuse me, but if your wife is a certified diver, why don't you ask HER what dive gear she wants? It bothers me that so many female divers are not recognized as independent and capable divers by their husbands. Most women are very opinionated, given the chance! ;)
I suggest you show your wife some gear, let her try it on, and explain the advantages and disadvantages of various gear choices to her. I'd shoot my husband in the fin if he bought me gear without asking me what I wanted. :no

Alright, I will admit that I didn't take into consideration the whole conservative vs. liberal algorithm thing. I will keep looking around in that department I guess. It's very hard to try out any gear out here in Kuwait, as LDS's are few and far between, and their prices are not competitive at all with online US shops.

As far as the Seiko computers having issues before, according to Mr. Zeagle those issues have all been resolved, and he stands by his computer with a 2yr warranty.

What do you guys think of the hoseless AI wrist mounted computers with dual transmitters? Would that be something feasible for both of us?

Thanks for the great feedback,
Jose

  • $44.95 - Oceanic Titanium knife

  • Titanium knives - the dive gear that says "more money than sense". ;)

Really, you are a dive shop's dream. :shakehead:
