We are looking to get back down to Coz in late April, and are doing the usual research. Sun Country is giving me a shot at round trip nonstop (!) airfare and 7 nights at the Plaza Cozumel for not quite 525 bucks apiece for 2 people in one room, with buffet breakfast (such as it is). Sheesh! You can hardly beat that. Anybody have any experience with this place? I have walked right by it a hundred times, but have no real idea of what they are like. Pretty basic, I am sure, but we are no strangers to that. (My trip to Providencia last year included a "hotel" with no hot water in the bathroom. Not a lack of supply, (we are used to that) but no hot water faucet! :shocked2:) Any information you can provide will be cheerfully accepted. :D Many thanks for your help.
By the way, I tried searching this forum, and came up with very little info. Strange...
Again, thanks for your help. Woody

From what I have heard from people that live there, it caters some to business travelers. Until recently they were not marketed on Orbitz, Expedia and the like which is why not a lot of folks on the boards have stayed there. We popped in when we were at Wet Wendys one day and it looked decent, needed a little updating, but the location is awesome. The pool is on the roof, the one downfall for us is that they do not have balconies.

Go to Tony Rome's Cozumel forum below and ask this same question under General Discussion. My Cozumel Community - Index

You could also ask it on travelnotes Cozumel forum.

Both of these sites are still diver friendly, they just also include other aspects about Cozumel too which may get you more responses about a specific hotel. Good luck finding your answer.

For a little over $1000 bucks, I'd take a chance at that price. You can't beat the location and even if the breakfast is crappy or too late for your dive op, you can grab something on the way.
Shortly after Wilma, we stayed at Hotel San Miguel on the square. We did have to walk or take a taxi to/from the dive shop, but it was a blast staying in town.
It is one of those places we've also walked by many times and not given much thought. I vote you go and let us all know how it was when you get back :D

That's probably what is gonna happen, I suppose. I didn't realize that it was not mass marketed until just recently, so I suspect that hard data is going to be scarce indeed. Anybody have any other information? Anybody? :callme:
