Dear divers,

Can you recommend dive shops that are especially environment-conscious (and safety- and employee- friendly) in Playa del Carmen? We are staying at Playacar for the next 13 days and would like to find a good dive shop that preferably also offers tours to Cozumel & cenotes too.

Previously we have used Scuba Caribe, as it is connected to the hotels we been staying at. We had a fantastic instructor (Lucio), who turned my deep-water phobia into diving-interest, but it seems to be a bit of a money-making machine.

We need to rent gear, as we only have fins+masks & snorkels.

All feedback and advice is very-very welcome!

Have a look at "Beyond Diving". The owner, Erik Rosenstein has several degrees in life sciences, has done a lot of field research in marine life and is very eco-conscious. He is also a lot of fun too :) I have dived with him several times (as have my sons) and his operation is my favourite in Mexico.

Thank you! I'll check them out, sounds like what we've been looking for!
