I just picked up a BCD where the plastic buckles on the shoulder straps are sewn into the webbing. Obviously I can sew in a new one if one breaks, but what do you all carry in your save-a-dive kits to fix this in the field?

I would break or cut away the plastic buckle and zip tie the two sewn ends of the strap together.

Yeah, I was thinking about removing the buckle and existing webbing and sewing in a new loop of webbing to hold it together. I don't want to start cutting at new gear just yet though.

Zip ties work, been there done that. That buckle usually gets broken from mishandling not normal use.

Quality cable ties (Think T&B Ty-wraps like these) wrapped the length of the buckle where the webbing is attached will hold them together. Usually what breaks is the ears of the male end. The cable tie method will fix this up fine and still allow adjusting the length of the strap.

If it gets to the point where one breaks due to age (vs. something falling on it), you're best off replacing all of them. If you source the buckles most any shoe/luggage repair shop has the machines to stitch the straps.
