Hi all,

Can any of you help me decide where to go diving on Labor Day weekend?
My planning so far is to arrive Fri evening/night, dive Sat and Sun and leave on Monday evening. Dive (boat) packages are preferred. I'm currently in San Francisco and am considering anywhere in SoCal.

Any type of diving is fine except for cave diving as I'm not certified for that. Any wrecks that are worth visiting (all of them are, I know...) ?

Thanks in advance.

Looks like the Peace Peace Dive Boat Calendar has a live a board that weekend if you can swing it.

I think that would be one of your best options.

Of course you may want to plan a little more ahead next time ;)

If you want wreck, The Yukon in San Diego definitely worth visiting.

I know, but I just moved to the US and didn't find out until today that that is Labor Day Weekend...

Ah, welcome to the states.

If you do want wrecks we have them down here in San Diego. We don't really have live a boards for San Diego and hotels around then will hurt the pocket.

I think you'd be best with the Peace boat. Great boat, crew, dive sights, and food.

Most dive boats with bunks in SoCal, from Santa Barbara to San Diego, schedule live-aboards for the Labor Day weekend.

Due to the nearness of the date, you may want to call several boats on this list and ask about available spaces:

You may also click to the websites of each boat and see who is chartering the boat for the holiday, and the planned destination.

Good luck, and may you find some gorgeous holiday fun.

Hey BD,

Like Glycerin said San Diego has the wrecks and because of the Holiday weekend most of the boats will be booked (like alluded HBDiveGirl to).

To add insult to injury, a lot of shops (and some groups) have chartered the boats in SoCal for that weekend. It is usually a "Sell-Out" weekend for dive boats and a great opportunity for shops to make some money on the charters. If you find more than one shop chartering a boat, call them both, you may find a price difference.

Welcome to the states, good luck, and enjoy the diving.
