place to stay singapore

First week of may im heading over to singapore to go to scubacam to pick up some new equipment ...

im looking for a hotel near scubacam (which is located in the golden wall centre).. they have recommended i stay in/near to little india. i only want to spend £20 a night really on the room and im struggling to find somewhere.

does anyone have any recommendations of where to stay close to scubacam??

£20 does not sound like it will get you much here anymore but the best source for budget travel information in SE Asia is travelfish.com. You can trust them entirely.

thanks for the reply, the link above is where the the accommodation desk at the airport sent me last time. the room was fine, i wasnt to keen on the area it was in though, apparently very close to the red light district.. i found it very hard to order food as well everybody seemed fairly reluctant to speak english which is fair enough i suppose.. the room cost me 50 singapore $ per night.

is the gloden wall centre fairly close by?

there is a few hotel 81 in singapore

go to Google Maps and search for golden wall centre. you will see some hotel 81, fragrance hotel on the west side of GWC...

to the north ( across the river) you will see some more hotel...its in "little India" area... is it a far walk? its a okay walk...

thanks, i will have to check out google maps when im not on mobile broadband its to slow.

also, where is all of this fantastic food i here about, it certainly isnt in geylang or maybe im just ordering the wrong things but its quite hard when every menu is Chinese...

Actually the good food is really is in geylang!!! I am not kidding!!!

Every menu is in Chinese?? I tot the menu are pretty much English base. Hahahah... Anyway, the food are at Chinatown and geylang( once again I am not kidding!!)

Place to avoid is newton circle. The food IMO cost too much there.

The hotel 81 on Dickson Road is closer to GWC but £20 would only get you into the red light district or a backpacker room, neither of which are too bad.

thanks zippsy, i will stay there. do you think i should book it online or wait until i get to the airport i think it was cheaper to book the one in geylang at the airport kiosk rather than directly with them??

Sorry, I don't know. I live here so I never use the hotels, even in the red light districts.
