Howdy -
I live in Oakland and work in San Francisco, and I'm looking for some place -- any place! -- where I can get wet and maybe work on skills or play with new gear. I generally dive around Monterey or Sonoma, but it's only feasible for me to make such trips a couple of times a month.
I've seen plenty of discussion about the inadvisability or worthlessness of diving around the Bay (though I still find myself gazing longingly at Aquatic Park). But what about local pools? Does anybody gain access to public pools without going through a shop? Or by going through their shop, but not as a part of some class?
I'm desperate here. I just assembled a new set of doubles, and they're gathering dust in my bedroom until I can get down to Monterey -- which won't happen until the end of the month!
Who else feels my pain?
best,
steve
