For my first dive of the new year, I dove at Scuba point at PK. They call their new year's dive "Possum Freeze" PK gave away sweatshirts with a diving Possum on it. real cute. My dive buddy was Randy. It cost $10 to dive. This was my first nitrox dive. The air was 81 and depth temp was 52. we went 72 feet. Saw a car, boat and a few fish. Like most Texas lakes the vis was not the greatest. By the time we came up the wind had picked up. So the water was very choppy getting out. Randy had on his dry suit so he was toasty while I wore a 3mil with a 3mil shorty on top, boots hood and gloves. I didn't get cold except for the initial shock of stepping in. It was a good dive the dive shop owners was very friendly. They even have hot showers.

I spoke with Randy in the evening and he said you both had a good dive! Said the owners are very nice and really gearing up for a good summer season with some new ideas. Glad you got to dive on 1/1/06.

Compared to the CSSP dive on Jan. 1, you got a better deal, I think. We're expecting our t-shirts at the end of January, vs. your immediate sweatshirt. Of course, the $40 vs. $10 speaks for itself. We did have brunch at CSSP; nothing to write home about (pastries, some kind of left-over souffle-type dish, and black-eyed peas, which were great.) Temps were about the same at both places; CSSP's vis was 10 feet in spots, and silted out in others. It sounds like the wind picked up in both places about the same time, noonish.

And no showers, definitely not hot ones, at CSSP.
