Ouch! I'd head for the hospital. The very thought makes me cringe.

Funny, I thought the same.......must have a real wet butt.

When you buy those cheapo inflatable air mattresses they give you a repair kit, little patch of plastic and a tube of sealant. I repaired a bladder a couple of years ago..I don't use it any more but it'll still hold air right now.

Nothing secret, no. It helps if you can get to the inside of the hole, but it's not entirely necessary.

I use Seam Grip, but Aquaseal with Cotol works great too.

Cleaning the area to be patched is very important.

For pinholes where I can't reach the back of the hole, I use a pin to make sure some of the Aquaseal gets into the hole. I put one think layer about 1/2" diameter, let it dry overnight, and then a second layer about 1" in diameter. If I can reach the back, I'll repeat the process on the other side.

For small cuts where I can reach the back, I use nylon repair tape as a backing on the inside and seal up the outside as above, then seal up the inside.

I'd do the same thing from the outside only for a cut or rip where I can't reach the inside, but I'm not sure I'd trust it too much.

Thanks. I hadn't even considered trying to get some of the stuff behind the hole. This, to me, is secret information. I've always understood the importance of cleaning, but the Aquaseal package recommends cleaning with either paint thinner OR nail polish remover which I thought was acetone-based. What do you use for cleaning?

I usually use lots of water, then a little soap, then a lot of water, then a little rubbing alcohol. I'd be wary of using acetone near the urethane.. though I don't know off hand if it would damage it.

Yeah, they recommend alcohol. Thanks. I should read more.

You will find out on the 29th in La Jolla :P

The patch kits that come with the cheap beach rafts would work but so would the raft itself! They aren't worth much anyway.
There are several ways to FIX your BC. If it is in good shape and you aren't wanting to replace the thing yet, I too have a BC that I E-Bayed and I love it, I dove the world with it and never had issues with it, I'm glad for that cause I was in a few remote site without much support other than tanks air and a few nick nacks.
However, Gear with a Lifetime warranty sounds real good! Gear wouldn't be an issue after that.
Forget the BCs let us know what the Doctor says about the holes in your bladder!!!! :-)

Hello!

On my last dive I found three small pinholes in my bladder that leak. I was told to super glue or hot glue over the holes. WHat is a good suggestion to stop them from leaking?

Darn, that sure must hurt! The hot glue would hurt even more!!! :11:
