Hello!

On my last dive I found three small pinholes in my bladder that leak air. I was told to super glue or hot glue over the holes. WHat is a good suggestion to stop them from leaking?

Do not use super glue because sometimes it will melt the wing material. Use aquaseal & if you are in a hurry add the accelerator to dry it more quickly. One of my wings is more aquaseal than wing LOL.

HeeHee.....I have 3 holes in my bladder 2 are intake and one is outgoing and I haven't had any trouble with my dives even with all those holes. You are luck that yours are only pin holes.

The super glue (CyanocryAnylate, CA) should be good if you allow it to set up over night, But CA is a brittle glue and if the bladder moves alot the glue might crack and fall off and/or contaminate your bladder with small pieces of glue.
Shoe goo is a much more flexable type of glue and would work much better. You will want to test the glue you might use in an area that won't effect the bladder if things go wrong between the glue and the plastic in the bladder material. Super Glue doesn't react well with some plastics like Poly-foams (beer cooler material) It eats the material up. So if your bladder reacts poorly to Super Glue your pin hole will end up being a Big hole. :-) This is a repair that YOU can do but if you aren't comfortable with it your LDS can handle it too.
......OR you can just keep adding air to your bladder! :-)

Thanks for the great info. Yes, I have been adding air to my bladder, but as a new dive my air consumption rate is, well, high. So, as I am learning to control my breathing better, I would like all the air I can get! ;)

This is a fix I believe I feel comfortable doing. I bought the BC used for $75 dollars (Oceanic Chute 2 in good conidition), so I would be super diisapointed if I have to replace it.

When I saw the title, I cringed.

On any other forum...

ok, as a newly certified diver maybe i'm just nieve but, would'nt it be wiser to have your BC repaired by a qualified tech?? reading this reminded me of a story in the december scuba diver mag.

a diver was diving a coral reef over a 1000 foot drop, he had had problems with his BC prior to the dive but thought he had fixed it, his BC malfunctioned, uncontrolled decent, they found him out of air and not breathing at 160 feet, he died..

or am i being overcautious?
