Received my DSS large plate with Torus 26# wing and Glide Harness Adapter yesterday. Which was the day after I ordered it (I live in San Diego). I could see and feel the quality of everything included. I have never assembled a BP/W harness and it took about an hour with a couple of visits to DSS YouTube.

Steve,

Looks like you nailed it. I typically install the Glide Harness Adapter on the diver's right, but it will work fine on either side. I like to put my left arm into the harness first (because that's where my Drysuit Exhaust Valve is), and then my right arm, but it will work on either side. Putting it on the left makes the left hip dring a useful max opening travel limit.

I would suggest you wait a bit before installing the 1/4 x 20 Button head and nut we furnish as a "min" travel limit. Installing it requires burning a hole in the webbing, and you will likely discover you want to tweek your harness adjustment a couple times as you start to use the gear. There is no requirement to install the limit, but it is a handy way to know you have pulled your harness to the same spot.

Nice pictures, thanks,

Tobin

Thanks Tobin! I installed the GHA on the left for a couple of reasons. 1I always seem to struggle with getting in on the left and 2 because I read another divers post about liking the natural stop of the left D ring. I'll definitely hold off on the burn and bolt for now. I still have a lot of adjustments to make. Mainly figuring out how much of the slack to cut off on both waist belt lengths. I ended up with over a foot on both. Looking forward to reporting after my first test dive.

I see so many of these DSS rigs on the boats in SoCalif. Everyone raves about them. Then 26# wing looks to me about just right for the single tank recreational stuff (?) - very nice set up. Congrats

George,

We sell a lot of 26 and 30 lbs wings for the local So Cal waters. That's because the buoyancy of the suits most people use here, 7mm wetsuit and Drysuits with medium to heavier undies.

In cold water it's almost always the buoyancy of the divers exposure suit that determines minimum required wing capacity.

When I look at them in person, I'm always impressed by the quality of the, I assume 300 series SS? and the associated hardware. Your stuff looks like lifetime use equipment. I'll be in touch, soon

My workplace has a SS acid etcher, can't wait to order my set up next month so I can inappropriately use work resources on the bp

Cool, just be careful to flush any acid out from under the molded grommets at each corner.

Are you going to do a photo realistic Picture? :)

We have small electrochem marking systems but our ability to make stencils is limited to pretty simple text.

I will probably put my name on it and a diver silhouette, I want to try and stay away from any holes and stuff so I'll have to scale it accordingly, It'll just be a nice added touch!

However if it were a realistic photo, there is no beating this:
