FWIW 640 suits most monitors including most laptops...I don't need to scroll on my Vaio and I have the 12" screen. The 10" screen you'd probably have to scroll, but they aren't outrageously popular for normal surfing. You can go to 700 without freaking out a lot of viewers (making them scroll) horizontally, but vertically it can be a little long.
