I was just trying to give you the best answer possible to your question to give you the best chance of enjoying your dive trip, and to avoid having you misled by well meaning but uninformed posters who might try to answer your question even if they have no possible way of actually knowing the answer. When you didn't seem to understand what I was saying, I tried to clarify it for you. When you still didn't seem to understand, I took the time to clarify further with examples. I was not trying to make you feel like an idiot. I was trying to help you understand for your own benefit.

I'm truly sorry that you don't seem to like the most appropriate answer to your question, but I must still stand behind my answer. You were wise to check with the dive centre. They are the only ones who could really answer your question.

Hope you have a good trip,

Bill

hi wap,

i had to have a medical with a dive doc b4 i could go diving, due to a previous condition.
i wanted to do a try dive on my holiday, b4 i started my OW.
my holiday was in cyprus, and all i done was to take a photo copy of my medical statement . signed and stamped by my diving doc.
i had no problems with this method. if you know the resort u are going to, u could look up in a dive magazine to see if there are any listed for that resort or livaboard company. get an email address for them then ask if they will accept a photocopy of a medical statement. hope that helps.......

regards pin:)

I have no problems with people asking for opinions rather than facts (most of the posts on the board are opinions afterall) so I'll give my opinion.

I have dived in Egypt a couple of times and am going there again in October. As far as I know all dives are guided dives and as such you will have to complete the fitness to dive form. The next question is whether you say yes or no to the question about back problems....thats your call.... if I was in your shoes I would admit it simply to cover yourself and not risk invalidating your insurance etc especially as you know you are ok to dive.

The next question is whether they will accept the cert you have already, it is quite likely they will but I wouldn't take the risk. I would call them first and check. I would hate to turn up to a live aboard for example with a cert that was 2 days to old for the companies local rules.

From what I have seen it can vary a lot from centre to centre, some ignore PADI standards, some go way beyond them, some local rules are stricter, some companies have insurance policies that make their rules different to anyone else.

In short I doubt you will have a problem, but you might as well ask.

And BTW in my opinion you were right to ask.

Hope this helps

Conor

hi wapyaly
I thought your question was quite clear, and worth asking !
I'm not quite sure why some people couldn't understand !
Anyway I think conar and pinhead have given you more satisfactory reply !

WAPYALY I understood your question from the start. I think to put it in SIMPLE terms it would read. Do's enyone have experience with dive charters in Egypt and there requirements for medicals, ie will they accept a Dr note from England.
