Scrippsia pacifica. I was going through some old photos that I hadn't worked on. This Giant bell jelly was bobbing around in our slip at the marina in 2012.

That’s beautiful - and such a nice shot. When I think of my photography I generally think ‘I really need to improve’ - and then I start looking at old pics and think ‘I’m not half bad’! I wonder how many of these wonderful shots we have hanging around on memory cards from years gone by?

Thanks for sharing that one!

Some of the cool critters we see could truly be the monsters of our nightmares! Great shot - but dang it’s not ‘pretty’!!
So accurate.

I've been lucky recently diving the same spot consistently with a couple of other photographers off the east coast of the UAE. The dive op will only go out with a minimum of two customers, which is fine by me, the less divers the better as the visibility is so variable.

Last Tuesday we had about 2m, and yesterday 5m.

The site called "The Blocks" off Fujairah, is an absolute nudi fest at the moment.

Several very large examples of this Gymnodoris rubropapulosa can be found here at the moment.

And there's a plethora of Pikachu nudis too, Thecacera pacifica

This Goniobranchus tinctorius seems to be rather prevalent on several dive sites in the first couple of months this year too

By far my most challenging nudi to photograph has been this Phestilla melanobrachia, which has rhinophores the same colour as the cerata. It has taken me five dives to obtain this one shot that I am pleased with.

I have also been doing a lot of experimenting with the BackScatter MS1 + Snoot, which can be tricky at times especially when there's a bit of current and the critter is in an awkward position.

Yesterday I was upside down for this shot of a Flabellina rubrolineata

Ceratosoma trilobatum, which was a bit of a surprise, as I have not seen one of these in the UAE, but have spotted them in Oman, so no reason why they shouldn't be here to be honest.

Here are a few photos from my last trip to Hurghada, Egypt, during the UW Photo competition there:
