Don,

How did you make the images embedded in the post?

I tried a few times yesterday with no success. The Help (or FAQ?) that I looked at yesterday said to use a button, but it is not there on my screen (I use "SB Classic Theme). I used the "Manage Attachments" in the "Additional Options" below the typing window, and that attached an image, but it put a small version of the image as a link at the end of the post. I could not figure out how to ebed the actual image in the middle of the text.

Is it possible that not all of us have the clearance to do that?

BTW according the what I found yesterday, the size limit is 200k for attachments.

I addressed this some on Azotomix's thread where you posted a Thumbnail. I'll quote some of that here...

DandyDon:
To post an actual size pic, you have to post the code for that pic stored in a gallery, like he did. Click the Reply button and you'll see this code...

(I added a space inside "img" so the characters would show rather than the pic) :)

The way you described it here is how one adds Thumbnails...

The way I was imbedding pics on this thread is very similar, except that I was using Photobucket gallery rather than SB's. Here's the code that links and produces the image, but again I will put a space inside so the code will show.

BTW, some forums here on SB will not support imbedded images.

HOWEVER, you can also use these codes to imbedde images on PMs.

Hope I made sense...?? :crafty:

Okay, I will try to embed an image directly from my PC

Above is typed directly into the reply box (advanced)

Same thing using the "Insert Image" icon on the reply box (advanced)

Added after submission: apparently I am still doing something wrong. Either my code is somehow wrong, or I don't have permission (unlikely in the photo testing forum) or it has to be a URL (most likely guess)

Thanks for the assistance and the patience.

BTW, when you "get it right" does it show the image in the preview? When I attached the thumbnail, it dod not display in the preview (I think?)

That would be correct...What your code was trying to do is pull the image from your C: drive, even if this works for you, no one else sees it as there's no way to reference your c: drive to all of Scubaboard. (technically there is but let's not go there...)

So your image has to have a "public" URL for it to work. That's what DD has via Photobucket.

BTW, when you "get it right" does it show the image in the preview?
It should.

As DD mentioned, you can also upload images to your SB gallery and then link to them in your posts.

I noticed you also have a personal website, you can also store them there like DD is storing his on Photobucket.com. Your ISP probably provides at least 10MB of storage space, it's where the code for your personal website is residing now.

You will need to download an ftp client to transfer the images to a directory in your webspace if you don't already have one. I use Filezilla, it's free. For purposes of this e-mail, I'm assuming you create and call this directory images

The image code to display your picture would then be:

[I MG]http://www.shultheis.org/images/FrenchAngelfish3.jpg[/IMG]
note: remove the space between the I and M for this to work.

As long as you don't remove the images from your personal webspace, this will work.

You'll still have to size your images to fit within SB's parameters I believe. I think they're something like less than 200K filesize and no bigger than 500x500 pixels but I may be wrong.

PM if you have other questions or need help setting this up. I won't necessarily see a reply here.

I guess I need to load more images in SB Gallery, as they're easier to load here. Just use the Select Images box to the right.
