Has anyone used the eGov app to enter the Philippines? Does it save you time? Worthwhile?

My recollection is that you have to do it when you land if you didn't do it before. It wasn't a big deal but maybe a minor amount of stress connecting airport wifi and filling out form while in line.

Definitely not what I’m talking about…this is it:

Looking back through my email, I have "registration completed" from etravel.gov.ph, dated the day I arrived in Manila. So yeah, I think they use it someone as part of their inbound immigration.

The Philippines eTravel (and subsequent QR code) - eTravel - is a requirement to enter the country. You can complete it up to 72 hours before your arrival. Basically it already puts into their system your entry information (vs the old "fill out the card" days) so that when the Immigration officer swipes your passport, it is on their screen.

In a lot of cases your airline of your country of departure will ask you if you have completed it prior to them letting you check-in as it shows in their system as a PI entry requirement. So it is best if you complete it before your departure and eliminate any hassle.

I have seen it in many occasions that passengers did not apply the e travel before arrival. They were asked to apply it on the spot.
BTW, on couple of occasions I had to show it to the immigration officer.
My suggestion is very simple: Apply for it before arrival.

Is the app new? We visited in February and just filled the eTravel online, (very easy) got the qr code (do take a screenshot, even though it says not necessary- when we landed there was an official checking you had it BEFORE you were allowed to line up for immigration and my SIL struggled to connect to their WiFi.)

Not sure I would download an app for this unless you visit often, then it might be easier?

Oh, yeah I just used the web site in July. I bet the app is just a repackaged web site.

That's correct. You don't have to use the app. It's just handy for someone who enters and exits the country multiple times and for those folks who like apps. As diveUAE recommended, always take a screen shot of the QR code on your phone or bring a hard copy photo as there is no guarantee the WiFi will be working. It may or may not be checked, and if so it will be checked prior to your getting to the immigration officer window. They just want to make sure you did it so that the information is in their system.

As Centrals mentioned, when you enter immigration you will see "a lot" of people who did not do it ahead of time standing around entering all the information....while you breeze through...

Just back a week ago from a couple of weeks in the Philippines. Used the app, works great, through very quickly. Much better than our Australian system which is a form filled out on the plane.
