Although no doubt the tragedy in Belize has haunted Peter ever since, I have never come across anyone who expressed a comment that they did not trust PHD because of that fateful day.

Interesting you say that.

There is a book out called "No Safe Harbour" which is about the Belize disaster and tabulates the tragedy from day one to the legal wrangeling after the findings of the company "Ocean oil international" a company of naval architects, marine engineers and surveyors who were hired to inspect the Wave Dancer after it was refloated -certainly the book and the report raised a number of questions about the incident, which may or may not have been answered satisfactorily depending on your view, but, I do think in the aftermath of the travel fall out from 9/11, a tightening global economy and a live aboard industry on its knees, the wave dancer episode was probably the final nail in the coffin so to speak.

Thanks Widget - its a book that I haven't read but ought to. Yes the live-aboard industry is definitely on its knees since the financial crisis, but they had been riding a wave for a long time and whether through providence or sheer luck, Peter couldn't have chosen a better time to cash in his chips. I do need to read that book so that I can familiarise myself with the specifics but I have been around boats and dive boats for nearly 30 years and accidents do happen and that was amongst the worst and one we shal never forget.

Story to be refilled in a week

Off topic, but Diver is available to me in South Georgia....my local Books a Million carries it.

Off topic continues. Diver Magazine oldest running dive publication in North America. Half of the readers live in the US. They (US subscribers) somehow put up with us adding the u to colour and me to programme. But, we do try to cater to US readers and older Canadians by using inches and feet as well as metres and pounds and kilograms.

It makes me crazy. I speak MSL (Metric as a Second Language) and the dual measurements disrupt the flow of the story. Alert Diver, if you are here too, please pick one or the other.
