Howdy,
I need corrective lenses to see distance. I am a -2.25 in both eyes and want to have custom lenses put in a SCUBA PRO CLEAR VU 2 mask.
Any feedback about where to send, OR NOT TO SEND, my mask?
Any other feedback about getting this done?
What about those STICK-ON LENSES ?
Anyone know who makes them and where I can find them ?
THANX !!
Geoffrey

Probably your best source for replacing the lens with a script lens. Or you could contact the manufacturer...?

Your profile doesn't say how old or experienced you are, but I gather from your post that you don't need bifocals? I do :oldguy: so I went with an all new mask, color correcting lens and bifocal script. You might compare prices - of fixing yours to just starting ove with a new one. Make sure the new one fits your face before you order, though.

I know that Divers Direct in Florida has the inserts, but I think all they do is magnify near vision, for your guages. I don't know what "a -2.25 in both eyes" means? Do you need help seeing the guages, the enviroment, or both?

Good luck... Don

:giggle: Certainly better than mine! :dork: Is the Board great or what.

Think I'll get my spare mask done that way!!

Thanks Don

-2.25 (spherical diopter) is a distance correction for mildly nearsighted person. The small stick on lenses are generally positive diopters and are for close up vision correction such as reading gauges.

Some shops have complete lenses in a variety of near sighted corrections that will pop into the mask, completely replacing the flat glass lens. Those are suitable if your prescription is all spherical (little or no cylindrical correction -- i.e. not much astigmatism).

As Drew Sailbum has noted, www.prescriptiondivemasks.com will grind custom lenses for any prescription and fit them to any mask you provide. They can also do bifocals. I'm happy with my 3 year old mask from them and will use them again soon with a new prescription.

I still have two masks from this company:seavision
