Im going to be working in the perhentians until september and once my contarct is over plan to go to sipadan for a week and then on to koh tao.

is there an easy way to get between all these places, or will i have to keep going back through KL. Also what is the fastest way to get from KL to koh tao - at the moment i think i have to get the train to surat tahni then the night boat. is there a flight from KL to koh samui?

thanks
Guy

Hey guy.

To go to Sipadan you will have to fly. No two ways about it. Perhentians is off the Malay Peninsula, and Sipadan is off the coast of Borneo. The best way is for you to make your way back to KL and catch the Air Asia early morning flight to Tawau, and then overland to Semporna, which is the jumpoff point for all Mabul/Kapalai resorts as well as for daytrip diving from Borneo proper to Sipadan.

From Borneo to Koh Tao, you're going to have to fly back to KL anyway, or Singapore, and from either of those you can hop on a flight to Samui. From Samui you take a ferry to Tao.

The distances are huge. A train is definitely NOT the fastest way (which was your question).

From Perenthinas to KT is easy, train to Surat Thani and than ferry.

From Sipadan, you may want to look into direct flights Kota Kinabulu - BkKK or via Brunei, you may get a good deal, than from BKK various options, bus/ferry, train/ferry or fly via Samui.

Coming from KL, possibly fly into Phuket and than bus/ferry to KT.

This is what I did to get into Indonesia from Koh Tao

Night Boat to Chumpon
Bus from Chumpon to Mayalsia,
Border to KL by bus,
Bought flight to Bali (Bought in KL and it was dirt cheap!)
all done on the cheap and took about 2 days in total.

we then went to Flores by Boat, Bus, Boat which took a bit of time but it was dirt cheap. Which did take time out of our dive schedule but the money we saved enabled us to do a lot more diving. The diving in Flores in outstanding!

There is a boat called the Palini which ferries you to most places in Indonesia but this can take a bit of time.
