I'm a Fish!
Originally I had plans to dive LBTS today, but when my alarm clock made this awful noise at 5 AM, my body decided that I really didn't want to get up, and Pepper's Park was a better option.

I packed up Riley (my 11 yr old soon to be diver) and ScubaKat11 (13 yr old daughter) and off we went. When we got there, the ocean was almost flat. The waves hitting the beach were about 1 foot... the visability looked like it might be OK. When we got back to the parking lot to suit up, FLIrishman was there pulling his kayak off the top of his van. (I need to try that some day... )

The kick out wasn't bad, because it was so flat. It was rather relaxing, so we worked on some of Riley's skills on the way out. It was interesting to watch him navigate on the surface with a compass, because his tank kept rolling... sometimes to the right and sometimes to the left. Even with his tank rolling, he kept us on track. When we hit the first reef, the vis was about 10'. Nothing great, but it was diveable. The great thing was Riley got to see his first nurse shark. It was a good 6-7 footer laying under the reef. After we got tired of the first reef, we kicked over to the second reef. Not much there... a couple of lobster molts... but, nothing to really see... so, we started heading back. Of course, I gave Riley the compass again and told him to get us back to the beach... he did a lot better under water... the tank stayed put.

Overall, it was a great dive for Riley... ScubaKat11 played mother hen while he was diving... I guess that's what a big sister is supposed to do. She'll make a great DM when she's 18. The water temp was 82 on the surface and 77 at the bottom. No live bugs...

Sounds like fun. Wish I could have been there.
