Pentwater, MI June 14-18

Hey Everyone -

My brother in law and I will be in Pentwater June 14-18 and would like to dive some of the area wrecks including the Minch and Commanche. The Commanche is a tugboat at about 80' and the Minch is in about 60'.

1) Is anyone interested in joining us for a charter?

2) Does anyone have any charter suggestions. I am assuming we will have to get with someone out of Muskegon or Holland, but do not know the area shops well.

3) Can anyone give some feedback about the wrecks above? I've been going to Pentwater for 30 years to vacation and the wreck are a big part of local lore. Now that I have my cert and cold water experience, I cannot wait to dive them, but I was curious what other thought about them.

Part of the problem with charters in Muskegon is WMDC (west mich. dive center) is closed and I don't know of others who charter there. In Holland there are three dive shops soon to be two. 'Adventures in Diving' is closing that leaves Scuba Sands and Advance Diving, A.D. is a brand new shop.
At A.D. I talked to the owner (Tim)a couple of weeks ago and he does do charters, but I'm not sure if he will go to Pentwater. He does have a great video of a wreck out of Grand Haven.
Scuba Sands (Chuck) can be oppresive if you haven't bought your gear from him and he has done charters (minimal) in the past but he usually goes south to areas near Holland and Saugatuck, maybe directionally nearer to South Haven

We used a charter that launched out of whitehall.(he trailers so he can launch various places)....He is a great captain and very safety oriented. I plan on doing a trip later in the summer with Gordon. Tell him Brent Dontje gave you his info, not sure what kind of deal he will give you.


I'd be interested in going but i work that weekend and i believe gordon generally only does weekend trips...It is quite the drive for me from Grand Rapids.

Obsession Diving is not chartering this year. Call Tim at Advance Diving. He would probably go to Pentwater.
