Man dies after failing to surface at scuba diving site
A scuba diver died Sunday after failing to surface at his scheduled time at Pennyroyal Scuba Center on Christian Quarry Road.

Christian County Coroner Scott Daniel identified the victim as 32-year old Linas Reed of Washington, Missouri.

Christian County Emergency Management Director Randy Graham says Reed was an experienced diver with extra oxygen, but personnel became concerned and called 911 when he didn’t resurface after a couple hours underwater.

Reed was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center with CPR in progress and Coroner Daniel says he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Reed’s body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville for an autopsy.

I'd like to know what 'extra oxygen' meant? I'm guessing some sort of redundant gas supply, but was he diving doubles or carrying a pony?

He was probably solo diving since they were looking at a scheduled time..I know the facility allows solo diving, but you have to be certified, and file your dive plan with the office staff...I imagine you also have to carry redundant air supply, which is probably the extra oxygen mentioned... But yeah, that's crazy... Be interested to see what the coroner finds.
