Several good ops in the area, I dove with Silent World a couple of weeks ago, nice boats, 14 divers max and good captains http://www.pennekamp.com/sw/

If you are looking for a "hold your hand" type operation that requires DM's to go with you, this may not be your type of shop. They take you to a site, give you a good dive briefing and ask you be back to the boat in an hour. That's what I want in a dive operator, some do not.
I will use them again in the future.

Mr Nice Guy,

Do a search on "Largo" and you will get a bunch of current info on operators. I'll be there next week, as a matter of fact. My criteria led me to Paradise Charters and Horizon Charters. Paradise has non-cattle boats (2 six packs and a 12 pack) and they allow spearfishing. Horizon has a 45 ft cattle-maran, but they only take 20 divers (compared to some 38 ft crewboats that take 28 divers). My other criteria included a head on the boat and operators near MM100.

What about Biscayne National Park? I picked up some info at Ocean Fest. We've tried before, but weather has never worked.

Stone, I did go out last week on Fathoms - warm water is wonderful! Midweek, no one is there! I understand that Lady Go Diver and Fathoms are operated by the same people, Parrot Island something...

I have dove with a number of ops in the keys, Quiessence is one I would recomend.

I just completed 14 dives with two operators in Key Largo.

I was really, really happy with Horizon Divers. Twenty divers on a 45 foot catamaran blows away 6 divers on a 6-pack for the type of diving done in Key Largo (unless the 6-pack is a 38 ft crewboat). The boat had a ton of space for setting up, room to stretch out on deck, plenty of dry storage, fresh water shower, and head. The boat was fast (twin 250s) and comparatively quiet. The first day we dove, the seas were 6 feet. The Cat was more stable in 6 ft than the 6-pack (28 ft) was in 2 ft. For multi-day diving, you can rinse and store your gear on site. Reef dives were an hour long. Some operators only give you 50 minutes. The crew was superb! Daily rates ($55 including tanks/wts) is good, but Multi-day discounts make this a great value.
