Damn, missed it coming home from work. What time was it?

Question: the carrier air wings fly off before coming into port. I know in San Diego, they land and stay at North Island air field for the duration. Where do they stay here? Barbers Pt. shut down, Hickam seems too busy with HNL there, Kaneohoe not big enough?

They stay on the ship.

i think they only vanguard the air wing when they're actually approaching their home port.. and this ain't home for them, afaik..

:rofl3: @ cracker jacks

snip...

We sailors (I'm a vet) actually call our Dress Whites and Dress Blues uniforms "Cracker Jacks".
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the candy coated popcorn, peanuts , and a prize got the name and sailor from that.

The last ship I escorted into Pearl Harbor was HMNZS Waikato which was also the last New Zealand warship to visit a US naval base due to the NZ nuclear weapons protocols. They hit Papa Hotel at 8am, tied up after 9ish, and I was plastered out of my skull by 10am. I crawled back to my ship, located my stateroom somehow, and slept the rest of the day. Always liked that Commonwealth carryover from the Royal Navy.
Now Waikato is a nice dive site down there.
