I will be heading for Ginnie Springs next month. Was told that Peacock Springs is nearby, but the person did not have much details and thought Peacock is just caves.

Does Peacock Springs have any dive spots for the recreational diver or is it just for certified cave divers?

Thanks

Thanks for the info Ed.

I'm a solo diver as well, looks kind of cramped lots of entanglement with the tree roots.

Maybe I've misjudged with the photos, but does not look like much there for the recreational diver at Peacock?

Orange Grove does allow OW divers, but as per park rules you are not allowed to carry lights. If the sink is covered with duck weed as in the second photo this would lead to a dark dive. Solo diving is also not allowed in the park. And no diver should enter the overhead (i.e. cavern and cave) if not properly certified and equipped.

Orange Grove is a sink hole and thats about it for OW divers. Ginnie allows you a little more to see, I was just there diving 2 weeks ago. I started at "Devils" went to the 2 areas where the cave divers enter. It's a nice place to descend and hang out. Good test of skills since to enter the beginning you are in 4'shallow. You can then get into the river and flow with the current down to "Ginnie" and there you will be shallow until you get down into the upper cavern area. From the river you can see a bunch of aluminum canoes stacked. That is where the entrance to the spring is. If you have a light, you can move into the lower cavern or ballroom. But be aware this is an overhead environment. The water is crystal clear and beautiful. But I recommend going into the park when it opens to dive @8am. There are alot of people there tubing and swimming and really mucking it up later in the day!
Have a great time!

Oh btw...
NO SOLO DIVING in State parks ... :eyebrow:

There's always Troy Springs that's on the way to Peacock from Ginnie. Also a state park though, so no solo. But there's also no overhead, so lights allowed - not that you'd need them.

...and a 'shipwreck'!! :D Its basically just ribs, but still cool IMO.
