I've talked with Capt Pat of Panama City Dive Charters about putting a trip together on Saturday May 15th. I need another 4 people for us to get the group rate. So, who is interested.

So far I have 2-3 others. At this point we're looking at going off shore, provided the oil slick hasn't moved into town.

The conditions are looking good for this weekend, but we'll know more as we get closer. If you want to sign up for the trip contact Capt. Pat with Panama City Dive Charters (850-624-2084). If we get enough people we may be able to get the group rate.

Yesterday I met up with 4 other divers and went out on Panama City Dive Charters boat the Steel Slinger. We visited the BJ Putnam and the Chippewa. Both were great dives. The vis was around 15-20 on Putnam and a little less on the Chippewa. The vis chages almost daily and can be as good at over 60ft. Started both dives with about 50-60ft vis then hit a thermocline at about 45' which dropped vis.

15-20 foot isn't bad if you take into account how rough the seas have been in the gulf. I should have video and clips on my site in a week or so. On both wrecks we saw grouper, AJ, baracuda, angels, damsels, pin fish and many others.

Jeff, It was nice meeting you too. I just pulled the video off the camera and I think it looks pretty good. I'll try to post a couple clips later today.

Brian,

Nice to meet you and your friends from up T-town way. Can't wait to see what you got in the way of video.

Jeff

I had a few problems with my video housing and LCD display on the first dive (BJ Putnam) but got them worked out on the second. The three clips attached are from the USS Chippewa (ATF 69) a WWII Atlantic tug in 105feet of water. We hit a thermocline on the decent dropping vis from 50-60 feet to 10-15.

I'll go back through and see if I can pull any decent clips out for the Putnam, max depth 111feet.
