Hello,

I’m an Associate Producer on SciGirls, a new national PBS science series funded by the National Science Foundation.

We’ll be shooting an episode on Catalina from August 19 – August 24th and we’re looking for 2 12 - 14 year old girls with a passion for marine life and the environment, who are skilled snorkelers or scuba divers - scuba is preferred but we will take applications from girls who only snorkel. The girls should be located on Catalina already or in the Long Beach to Dana Point area of the California Coast.

If you know of anyone who might be interested, can you please pass along my contact information? I can be reached at mblahnik(at)tpt.org.

We are trying to cast this episode by August 11th so interested parties should contact me ASAP.

Thank you!

Marissa

Very cool, Marissa... good to promote interest in marine science among the young ladies. I think they generally make better ecologists because they think more in terms of relationships between things.

Really not a lot of young women who dive regularly here on the island that I'm aware of. However, you might contact Bob & Tina at SCUBA Luv (310-510-2350), Eric at Catalina Divers Supply (310-510-0330) or Ron/Connie at Dive Moore (310-510-3175). They may have more knowledge on who might fit your needs here on the island.
