BRD, don't need AI, but your computer must have average depth in the readout, no DG03 or Zoops etc.
OP, the SAC rate you posted is what I would consider "normal" for that scenario considering you're a new diver.
0.35 is my deco/relaxing SAC, 0.45-0.6 is kicking around depending on current/work load, and 1.0 is what I use to plan for to make sure I have enough. Your SAC will come down with time, for most people it levels off around 0.6 for a full dive average. I try my SAC for every dive, computer spits out total dive time and avg depth, I have total gas used, and crunch the numbers. I find this is something that too many divers don't do, but it provides a lot of information about the dive. I like the grand total because it averages everything out, and tells me if I was comfortable, uncomfortable, diving new gear, etc etc. Says a lot about how you were feeling and if you get enough data, you can use that to predict what your SAC will be like which helps with planning dives.
