Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone here dives in the PCB area using a Personal Water Craft/Jetski? I may be taking some down for a week long vacation. What I'm thinking of doing is diving the Jetties using the PWC with two divers on each and towing the gear in a raft behind each ski. Two divers go in while two stay above on each ski following the dive flag, then switch out. I'm thinking the Jetties should be a safe first attempt at this. The past couple of years we've taken the ski's down to PCB we've encountered dolphins playing in the current on the jetties. Not sure how feasible it would be to try and time the dive for that though.

Any other dive sites close in that would be safe for accessing with a PWC, or am I nuts for even thinking of attempting this?

I will add that we also have a few dive shop lead dives planned, so this would be more of a fun challenge on my part.

Thanks,

Paul

pulling your dive gear in a cheap bouncing rubber raft is a good way to loose your dive gear in my opinion.

can you dive from a PWC? Yes. I would guess so. But what if one of your' divers has an accident/injury? hard to recover him and take him back to shore.

As for the Jetties, sure is easy to park in the parking lot and walk over to them at St Andrews instead of the hassle of trying to gear up sitting on a jet ski. just my opinion.

I agree with Mike...a PWC for the jetties is overkill. It is a short walk to the water from the parking area. All four divers could dive at the same time. Now, a PWC at the Destin Jetties might be helpful....but only to get there. I wouldn't dive from it....just stick it on the beach and go.

I think that "the walk of doom" alternatives for how to get there is done every time we make the walk. heh. we even discussed it last week. :thumb:

Actually I don't think the walk is all that bad... (but not easy either though in the soft sand).

It is usually when we are half way to the jetties, in the heat of the summer, that someone comes up with another brillant idea on how to get to the Destin Jetties.

Yeah, I think that is what I said. I wouldn't use it for St. Andrews, but I would consider it for Destin.

the Destin jetties are a different game from the St Andrews jetties.
