not many hotel rooms left on the beach anyhow, took me a hour and a half to just find one, nothing but condos or closed up bought out hotels getting ready to be condos, stayed at the driftwood lodge or inn it was very nice but pricy. got in some good dives at the jettys, saw alot of fish, groupers ect loved the no wetsuit,6 pounds of weight warmwater dives,i miss living in florida, might have to move back sometime. have fun

Try the Inns at St Thomas. Nice condos reasonably priced. 233-7054 or 234-0349 Divers Den is good never been out with dive locker although Capt Logan runs their charter. Call PCDC back and talk to Roger (my dive buddy) tell him you want to dive see what he can work out. Tell him Val said to call.

Hey, Bug Man, howz about sending me that info too???

I see the Steg-Meister is bugging out on the August "Dine-n-Dive"

Oh well, I guess he's forgiven since he'll be getting some ocean/warm water dives in.

And, no, Jer, you won't need your dry suit !!!! :D

Diver's Den Beach is using PCDC boats for the time being as their boat is down, and I don't know what has happened to the boat they were putting together. Most likely. Dive Locker on Thomas drive has a fleet of only trailered 6 packs, so they can usually squeeze you on, especially one diver.

Too bad you aren't here this morning, we are heading out with two empty spots on our 4 pack...

Good luck,
wsgts

I've got lodgeing and I'm booked on the boat. I called PCDC back the next day and I got someone else on the phone who must have been the owner or something because he was extremely nice and helpfull. He even joked around about going to the Black Bart for like the 1000th time. Anyway, this one phone call prompted me to dive with them. I told him about my experience when I first called and he said that it was probably just a really bad time (running late, lots of tanks to fill, bad day for employee...who knows).

I found a hotel in DeFuniak Springs for $59.00 per night. That will work out good too because I'm planning on makeing several dives at Morrisons too. BTW, when do they close the gate at Morrisons?

The owner/manager of PCDC is "Gomez" (Mike I think is his first name). He's pretty decent to deal with. When you go in, he looks like a biker with a long beard. I have noticed a couple other of his employees are clueless. (including the one who filled my AL80 to 3800psi).

The Sheriffs office opens and closes the gates. So it's basically when ever they get there as they are on patrol, etc. Officially according to the State website it closes at "dark". (The State officially owns Morrison now, though the county operates it).

see http://www.dep.state.fl.us/springs/locator/Morrison.htm
(of course the website is out of date also, as it has the past operators number that went out of business I'd guess 2+ years ago and the fees listed. It's actually free to dive there.)

You can drive around the southside of the bathrooms and to the basin when the gates are closed... You aren't supposed to, but, if you wanna dive  Gates have never stopped the Bronco II of DOOOOOOM.
