Many of the reefs around Palos Verdes consist of jumbled boulders and house size rocks. A few sites have walls to explore. One of the best is off Resort Point. Located 1900 feet off the end of the Honeymoon Cove trail at 259° is the eastern edge of a reef that rises from the sand at seventy feet to thirty-five feet at its highest point. I have seen some hearty beach divers making this dive. It's a long swim to reach the kelp but worth the effort.

Kelp surrounds the reef and is home to schools of Blacksmith, Calico bass, Garibaldi and others. The top of the reef is covered by gorgonians and hydroids, with sponges found along the perimeter of the reef. Look for Moray eels in the cracks, especially in the walls themselves. 33°45.873N 118°25.680W

It's one of the tougher goat trails in P.V.
There is one section near the top where you have to sit and slide. The rest is just steep. I saw a friend come up to the grass one day looking like a ball of mud. I had a couple gallons of fresh water that I poured over her but it barely made a dent.
