We are going to Palau next February on the Aggressor. Has anyone paired this trp with anything other than yap? been there, nice, but dont want to return.

I have not been to Palau yet but I can tell you that the majority of divers going to Truk Lagoon, were either going or coming from Palau. (I worked there for 4 months) The diving at Truk is all wreck diving and totally different from Palau. If you are going all that way and spending all that money on airfare, I strongly suggest you stop at Truk Lagoon. It's outstanding.

most people pair the liveaboards at Palau with either a short trip to Yap or a week at Truk on the liveaboard there.

There was a group on our Palau liveaboard with us who did 5 days land-based on Palau after, doing nothing but the WWII wrecks. They had arranged it prior to trip, since there were 5 of them, but I don't know which dive op they used. They had a great time doing that as they were all wreck junkies. ;)

I'm planning on doing the Palau Aggressor next February as well. Maybe as early as late January but we'll see. I have to get the Star Dancer in Papua New Guinea this April out of the way and then the Palau Aggressor can be the large target on my radar.

I can't wait to be able to compare PNG with Palau, I know they're both very different destinations but they've been on my to-do list for 15 years!

When I go to Palau that'll be the only place I go - as much as I'd like to, affording a second liveaboard in Truk (which if I went would be how I'd do it) or land based dive trip on Yap would be too much time off from work and too much money - so I'm just doing the one week in Palau and I think that'll satisfy me plenty.

Have you given any thought to the Tropic Dancer - the new Peter Hughes boat in Palau? Their crew might not be as experienced at the time but they'll have a little more than a year under their belt. The new Tropic Dancer used to be the Fiji Aggressor catameran.. I'll probably use the Aggressor but you never know.
