I am getting some more AL 80's for dirt cheap but they are this hideous vomit green color. is it possible to paint over them or are there covers available to hide that terrible color? Thanks for the advice in advance.

You could paint them if you wanted. Just stay away from powder coating them, as that requires heating the tanks, after which a lot of shops won't touch the tanks.

I had some tanks with nasty, flakey paint on them and just used some paint stripper and left them as they are. You can get fairly environmentally friendly stuff at Home Depot. Just do it somewhere with lots of ventilation and use gloves.

Strip them and leave them natural.

Factory finishes don't hold up and nothing you do will even come close to that.

Any finishes or wraps will just trap corrosives and drive more maintenance.

Aircraft paint stripper is quite fast. It will be quicker if you remove any labels first. Any crack in the paint or clearcoat will allow salt to accumulate and corrosion to begin. When I noticed this some years ago, I stripped all 6 of my painted tanks (the other 16 had natural finish).

A little heat from a blow dryer will make quick work of labels.
