Training,mentoring,location,conditions,equipment etc..are externals and in no way make a conehead any less dangerous.
Cowboys and knowitalls are useless to me as is anyone who can't run all the gear and boat if the capt is hurt or incapacitated.Even if"properly" trained and equipped.

Experience is subjective,quarries ain't got current,critters and a host of other variables to deal with that oceans and caves do.Great for entertainment and training but put that experienced guy on a deep wreck in water that's 50 degrees F on the bottom 80F on top and has 2+kt current and big critters "distracting" you and he'll be less prepared than a guy who only does 50 dives a year all ocean but shallow.

Guys who only dive tropical temps with 100' vis are equally handicapped when conditions are less stellar.
