Occasionally I read a bit in the Encyclopedia. An interesting book. Some of the stuff doesn't have much effect on my normal diving, but interesting nonetheless. Some of it is very basic and wordy (has PADI ever done that...?) and some is more complicated than we really need to know, as with all the physics/molecules of this gas & that.
 
You might consider the Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving

I picked up a used one on eBay for $15 including shipping, but I did see a lot of otherwise reasonable priced copies go by while I was waiting for a good deal. Theory dosen't change a lot over time.

I have a couple (one NOS, one used) 1988/89 copies if anyone is interested. $17 for the NOS, $12 for the used (has one of the first pages with writing on it. Other than that it's in excellent shape.) Plus actual cost of shipping.
