Does the Padi ITC staff not have to be certified in Defib despite local protocols?
Yes, Nessie their are other organizations teaching the AED in Ontario as well but they have a Doctor delegating the authority to use them to the sucessful candidates.
Defib is definitely a vital link in the chain of survival but local regulations must prevail. Its only a matter of time until legislation changes to meet the changing technology.
I still would prefer to see people taking the training from an organization that specializes in first aid training rather than from a LDS. In saying that I am sure that there are a lot of competent instructors at the LDS but they could get involved with one of the first aid organizations. Padi should focus on training safe divers.
