Hello all,
I`m a recently qualified AOW diver, enjoying reading all the comments, can`t wait to make some new `buddies`...hopefully! I do have a quick questiion though...reading one of the comments, i got the impression that maybe i should have recieved some cards from PADI for my specialisations aswell as my OW and AOW?..is this correct or what????

Many thanks for any help on the matter

Rob

Yes you should have, though it may take a month or two (at the longest.)

If they are taking ages, contact the school where you completed the certs and ask them if they have sent the relevant form to PADI and so on. You could also try contacting PADI HQ in London.

It depends.
Did you actually do specialty courses? (i.e. 2 to 4 dives in each specialty) or are you counting each of the 5 "specialty" dives for your advanced course? If it is the first then yes you should get cards. If it is the second then no you wont.

Speak to your instructor to chase them up if need be or contact PADI in Bristol.

Thanks guys,
they were just for my AOW so i`ve got all i should have!! Thanks for for ultra quick response!!

I'm not an instructor, but when I took AOW only a single dive within the 'specialty' was needed to meet the AOW 'speciality' requirement. The AOW card was all I was entitled to get.

Qualifying for a separeate speciality C card usually required multiple dives within the speciality (e.g. pool dive followed by open water for dry suit card, or two wreck dives) and more training, even if the latter is often limited to a different video, a brief questionaire and, of course, an additional fee to PADI.

...... and, of course, an additional fee to PADI.

When did PADI start charging an additional fee? I guess I should start collecting it from my students.........LOL

I guess he means the PADI pic envelope cost which I'm sure you are passing on to your students :), otherwise I'll do all my training with you :)

I have been offered courses before without getting the cert card and the discount was the cost of the pic.
